Blech! Another boring day of being on standby at client site.
By now, me and other team members have become expert de facto on Indian current affairs, world politics and bitching and moaning.
Don't get me wrong. The latter two are quite handy when negotiating with the company HR folks. :p
Oh, I spend *some* time learning new skills I suppose.
I also learned today that the Indian karela is called niga uri in japanese.
... and that black salt(kala namak) that is the secret master ingredient of indian cooking, comes from himalyan mountains. Many many thousands if not millions of years ago, when himalayas were submerged in sea, apparently some salt deposits were created in the mountains which over the centuries mixed with the rock minerals.
Indians today are effectively eating up the himalayan mountain range!!!!
This is alarming.
And what will happen to the indian cooking once we run out of the mountains to devour ?
The implications leave me utterly depressed, and I am off to compensate by making my favourite yoghurt special mix I make by mixing one spoonful each of grounded cumin seed and black salt.
